Kenilworth in Bloom Plant Sale

KENILWORTH IN BLOOM PLANT SALE

Saturday 12th May 10.00am till noon - St Johns Church, Kenilworth

Our highly popular plant sale is our most important fund raising event of the year!    Admission is only 50p for adults, children are free.
All funds raised go towards the cost of
planting and maintaining the floral tubs in Warwick Road, Abbey End, High Street and Castle Hill.

There will be the biggest and best selection of bedding and basket plants as well as a range of vegetable plants and herbs that we have ever had on offer, and prices remain reasonable.
A variety of hanging baskets will be available on the day but as these sell out quickly you may wish to secure one or more by placing an order in advance.  Please ring Sue Edwards on 779021 (evenings) for details.
There will also be an excellent selection of quality home-grown perennials and shrubs at very reasonable prices.

After the amazing popularity of our sale last year, we have hired a second room at St John’s Church Hall this year to ensure there is more space for everyone to browse in comfort.

In addition, representatives from Kenilworth Leisure Gardeners Association will be there selling compost, grow bags and garden sundries.

More about Kenilworth in Bloom

The Kenilworth in Bloom committee has been in existence for many years.  Most people assume it is a council led organisation but in fact it is made up of a small group of hard working volunteers, and all fundraising activities are undertaken by them.

In the past Kenilworth has been successfully entered in the Britain in Bloom contest, winning gold medals in 2001 and 2002, and we hope to do so again in the future.  However, to maintain our day to day activities and plan for the future we need more volunteers to join the committee.  If you have a little time to spare and are interested in making the town an attractive place to live then please contact Sue as above.

Currently our main areas of activity are:

- Raising sponsorship from local businesses, organisations, groups and individuals to fund the twice yearly planting of the tubs of flowers which make the town look so much more attractive

- Raising additional funds through the annual plant sale in May

- Running a garden competition each summer for local schools, private householders, businesses,

residential homes and public buildings.  All entrants and sponsors are invited to a presentation evening of trophies and certificates in the autumn, which includes a free buffet.  Look out for details in the press regarding  this year’s competition which will also include a special award for the best Jubilee-themed display.

If you own or run a business in the local area and would like to take advantage of the advertising opportunities offered by sponsoring a planter then please contact Sue to discuss the options.  Prices for June 2012 to May 2013 for new sponsors range from £60 for one plaque on a square planter to £190 for four plaques, and from £50 to £150 for existing sponsors wishing to continue.  We are pleased to accept sponsorship from individuals at the same cost.  General donations of any amount are always welcome and will help in our aim to make Kenilworth bloom all year round.
